We sow futures

The Latin Futures Association (ALAF, “Associação Latina de Futuros” and "Asociación Latina de Futuros") is a non-profit NGO that operates as an association of Latin American members interested in discussing and building futures focused on the well-being of future generations. We want to ensure that our voices and perspectives hold a relevant place in global discussions about the future.
Our mission is to develop Latin America's leadership role in building futures where the economy, society, and the environment coexist in balance.
We value plural thinking, foresight disciplines, and the ancient wisdom of Indigenous peoples, Afrodiasporas and Originary peoples by putting future generations in the spotlight, in hopes they’ll build a world where their rights and needs are respected.
We invite academics, activists, politicians, professionals, and students from all Latin America regions to join us in these intergenerational dialogues, to further explore our future identities and co-create inclusive and sustainable solutions for everyone.
Membership is ope Latin Americans who want to participate in debates, learn about foresight and future studies, co-create knowledge, expand their network and join advocacy campaigns. Some of the benefits include:
Develop Latin America's leadership in building a future where the economy, society, and the environment coexist in balance.
A Latin America that leads the construction of futures ensuring the well-being of all generations.
Protecting future generations' interests goes beyond environmental conservation, encompassing the transformation of social and political structures inherited from colonial systems to build a fairer future.
A concept of harmonious coexistence with nature, based on collaboration and respect rather than exploitation. This approach emphasizes ecological justice, potentially leading to the legal recognition of ecosystem rights.
Strengthening regional identity by fostering connections that promote a shared social innovation agenda, valuing perspectives of historically marginalized peoples in sustainability and long-term planning discussions.
Recognizing and integrating innovative practices from Indigenous, Afrodiasporic and Originary peoples' wisdoms into future planning.
